Dioxane saturated with HCl gas (10 ml) was added to a solution of benzyl-{2-[7-(4-cyano-benzyl)-9-oxa-3,7-diaza-bicyclo[3.3.1 ]non-3-yl]-ethyl}-carbamic acid tert-butyl ester (0.65 g, from step (ii) above in 5 ml of dioxane and stirred for 1 h at RT under nitrogen atmosphere. The reaction mixture was diluted with dry diethylether, and the solvent was decanted. Precipitated solid was washed with dry diethylether (4 times) and dried under vacuum to give HCl salt of the sub-title compound (0.5 g) as a powder.
