To a mixture of 2-(5-bromo-benzothiazol-2-yl)-ethanol (0.94 g, 3.6 mmol) in 10 mL CH2Cl2, Et3N (0.99 g, 9.8 mmol), was added methanesulfonyl chloride (0.46 g, 4.0 mmol) dropwise at room temperature. The reaction was worked up by concentrating under vacuum and then used in the next step, Example 1C.
