Procedure
575 g (1.09 mmol) of 5-bromo-3-[4-(tetrahydro-pyran-2-yloxy)-phenyl]-1-(toluene-4-sulfonyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridine was dissolved in 250 ml of dichloromethane. To this solution was added 2.50 g (3.53 mmol) of PS-thiophenol (Argonaut Technologies) and 1.5 ml of a 2 M solution of hydrochloric acid in ether. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 3 hours before the resin was filtered off, washing extensively with dichloromethane. The filtrate was evaporated to afford 389 mg (877 μmol, 81%) of 4-[5-bromo-1-(toluene-4-sulfonyl)-1H-pyrrolo[2,3-b]pyridin-3-yl]-phenol as a pale yellow solid. 1H-NMR (d6-DMSO) δ: 9.67 [1H] s, 8.52 [1H] d, 8.43 [IH] d, 8.11 [1H] s, 8.03 [2H] d, 7.58 [2H] d(m), 7.43 [2H] d, 6.89 [2H] d(m), 2.35 [3H] s. MS, m/z: 443 [MH+].
