A solution of 2-allyloxy-2′,6′-dichloro-5-fluorobiphenyl (11.02 g, 37 mmol) in decahydronaphthalene (100 mL) was refluxed for 38 h. The solvent was removed under vacuum. Chromatography with 0–20% ethyl acetate in hexanes afforded 9.26 g (84%) of 3-ally-2′,6′-dichloro-5-fluorobiphenyl-2-ol as a light yellow oil. MS (ES) m/z 295.0 ([M−H]−).
