Reaction Steps
A solution of 2-allyloxy-2′-chloro-6-fluorobiphenyl (9.0 g, 33.7 mmol) in mesitylene (100 mL) was refluxed for 24 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure. Purification by ISCO using a solvent gradient of 0 to 20% ethyl acetate in hexanes provided 7.0 g (81%) of 3-allyl-2′-chloro-6-fluorobiphenyl-2-ol as a colorless oil.
