A mixture of 1.3 g of 2-amino-6-methyl-N-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)benzamide and 10 ml of triethoxymethane was heated at reflux for 1 hour. The mixture was then cooled and the solid which formed was separated by filtration, washed with ethanol and air dried to give 5-methyl-3-(1H-tetrazol-5-yl)-4(3H)-quinazolinone melting at about 280°-281° C. with decomposition. This compound has the following structural formula: ##STR3##
