Procedure

A solution of 1,1-dimethylethyl 3-(acetylamino)-4-(aminocarbonyl)benzoate (110 mg, 0.47 mmol) in trifluoroacetic acid (2 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 15 minutes, concentrated, and the residue was rinsed with hexane (3×3 mL) and dried in vacuo to give 3-(acetylamino)-4-(aminocarbonyl)benzoic acid (100 mg, 97% yield), MS (EI) for C10H10N2O4: 223 (MH+).
