ethyl 4-cyano-3-{[trans-4-({[(1,1-dimethylethyl)oxy]carbonyl}-amino)cyclohexyl]amino}benzoate (0.37 g, 0.97 mmol) was stirred in a mixture of dichloromethane (2 mL) and trifluoroacetic acid (2 mL) at room temperature for 1 hour. The solvent was rotary evaporated, and the residue was dried in vacuo to give ethyl 3-[(trans-4-aminocyclohexyl)amino]-4-cyanobenzoate (0.490 g, 99% yield) as trifluoroacetic acid salt. MS (EI) for C16H21N3O2: 288 (MH+).
