2-Acetylamino-5-formyl-4-trifluoromethyl-benzoic acid methyl ester (880 mg, 3.043 mmol) in MeOH (10 mL) was treated with potassium carbonate (463 mg, 3.35 mmol) and toluene-4-sulfonyl methylisocyanide (594 mg, 3.04 mmol) and the mixture was refluxed for 5 h. The reaction mixture was cooled to r.t., concentrated in vacuo and the residue was purified by flash chromatography (100 g silica gel, DCM) to give the title product (248 mg, 28%) as a yellow powder.
