Procedure

A solution of ethyl {3-[4-(3-cyano-6-ethoxy-1-ethyl-1H-indol-2-yl)-phenyl]-ureido} acetate (compound 773, 325 mg, 0.748 mmol), prepared in procedure 1AV, step A, in acetone (5 mL) was treated with HCl (3 mL, 6 N), and the resulting solution was heated to reflux overnight. The reaction mixture was cooled, and the resulting precipitate was collected by filtration, washed with ether and dried under high vacuum to afford the product, 6-ethoxy-1-ethyl-2-[4-(2,5-dioxo-imidazolidin-1-yl)-phenyl]-1H-indole-3-carboxamide (264 mg, 0.650 mmol, 87%).
