4-(4-Chloro-[1,2,5]thiadiazol-3-yl)piperazine-1-carboxylic acid tert-butyl ester (1.0 g, 3.28 mmol) was suspended in 10 mL of 4 M HCl in dioxane. The suspension was stirred overnight and the solid material was removed by filtration. The solid was washed three times with 15 mL ethyl acetate and dried under vacuum. 756 mg of white powder was obtained.
