4-(2-Cyanophenyl)piperazine-1-carboxylic acid (3,5-bis-trifluoromethyl-phenyl)-amide (˜5.3 mmol) was dissolved in 50 mL of ethanol. 5 mL of aqueous NH4OH was added along with 500 mg of 50% Raney nickel in water. The reaction mixture was hydrogenated in a Parr shaker at 45 psi overnight. The reaction mixture was filtered through a plug of Celite and concentrated under vacuum. 2.5 g of crude product was obtained, and used without further purification.
