A mixture of ethyl 2-(4-fluorophenyl)-3-(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-4-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-5-carboxylate (210 mg) in 85% hydrazine monohydrate (10 mL) and methanol (10 mL) was stirred at 45° C. for overnight. Methanol was removed under reduced pressure. The mixture was filtered and washed with water to give 8-(4-fluorophenyl)-9-(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-8,9-dihydro-2H-pyrido[4,3,2-de]phthalazin-3(7H)-one 36 mg, yield 19%). 1H-NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ (ppm): 3.42 (s, 3H), 4.66 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 4.95 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 6.72 (s, 1H), 6.89 (s, 1H), 7.11-7.17 (m, 3H), 7.30 (s, 1H), 7.40 (d, 1H), 7.43-7.44 (m, 2H), 7.58 (d, 1H), 12.17 (s, 1H); 19F-NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ (ppm): −114.58; LC-MS (ESI) m/z: 362 (M+1)+.
