A mixture of ethyl 7-fluoro-2-(1-methyl-1H-imidazol-2-yl)-4-oxo-3-phenyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-5-carboxylate (250 mg, 0.636 mmol) in 85% hydrazine monohydrate (1 mL) and methanol (5 mL) was stirred at room temperature for 4 h. The resulting mixture wax filtered and washed water (20 mL) and methanol (5 mL) to obtain a white solid, which after dried in vacuum at 50° C. afforded the title compound (34.6 mg, yield 15%). LC-MS (ESI) m/z: 362(M+1)+; 1H-NMR (400 MHz, DMSO-d6) 6 (ppm): 3.56 (s, 3H), 4.48-4.49 (d, J=6.0 Hz, 1H), 5.01-5.03 (m, 1H), 6.70-6.71 (m, 1H), 6.81-6.84 (m, 1H), 6.98-7.02 (m, 2H), 7.14-7.26 (m, 5H), 7.66-7.67 (m, 1H), 12.33 (s, 1H).
