A mixture of ethyl 2-(4-((dimethylamino)methyl)phenyl)-3-(4-ethylphenyl)-4-oxo-1,2,3,4-tetrahydroquinoline-5-carboxylate (290 mg) in 85% hydrazine monohydrate (1 mL) and methanol (10 mL) was stirred at 30° C. for overnight. Methanol was removed under reduced pressure. The crude product was purified by chromatography (silica gel, Petroleum ether/ethyl acetate=1:1) to give the title compound (112 mg, yield 42%). LC-MS (ESI) m/z: 425 (M+1)+. 1H-NMR (400 MHz, CD3OD) δ (ppm): 1.12 (t, 3H), 2.10 (s, 6H), 2.52 (q, 2H), 3.34 (s, 2H), 4.31 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 4.76 (d, J=8.0 Hz, 1H), 7.04 (m, 4H), 7.15-7.20 (m, 3H), 7.25-7.27 (m, 2H), 7.38-7.41 (m, 3H), 7.59-7.61 (m, 1H).
