A mixture of 4-Benzyloxy-1-isobutyl-isoquinoline-3-carboxylic acid butyl ester (125 mg, 0.32 mmol), Pd/C (50 mg, Aldrich, 10 wt % Pd) and EtOAc (15 ml) were stirred at ambient pressure and temperature under an H2 atmosphere for 24 h. The mixture was then filtered through a pad of celite. Concentration of the filtrate in vacuo yielded the title compound as a yellowish oil (87 mg); MS-(+)-ion M+1=302.2.
