Sodium azide (1.18 g) was added to a suspension of 5-(benzyloxy)-8-(2-chloroacetyl)-2H-benzo[b][1,4]oxazin-3(4H)-one (4.8 g) in DMF (50 mL) and stirred for 2 h. The mixture was poured onto ice/water and the resulting solid filtered off, washed with water and dried under vacuum at 40° C. to afford the subtitled compound as a light brown solid (4.6 g). 1H NMR (300 MHz, DMSO-d6) δ 10.42 (s, 1H), 7.55 (m, 2H), 7.48 (m, 1H), 7.43-7.29 (m, 3H), 6.97 (m, 1H), 5.31 (s, 2H), 4.69 (s, 2H), 4.63 (s, 2H).
