A flask was charged with 4-(benzyloxy)-5-bromo-N-(4-phenethylthiazol-2-yl)pyridin-2-amine (1.0 g, 2.1 mmol), dioxane (20 mL), concentrated HCl (70 mL) and 6N HCl (10 mL). The reaction was stirred at 95° C. overnight. The reaction was filtered and the collected solids were washed with water and under high vacuum overnight to give the desired product (0.80 g, 89% yield) as light yellow solid.
