To 5,6-diamino-1-[2-(1H-benzimidazol-2-yl)ethyl]-2-thioxo-2,3-dihydropyrimidin-4(1H)-one (0.29 g, 0.96 mmol, obtained from Example 12(c)) in DMSO (2 mL) was added formamidine acetate (0.15 g, 1.4 mmol) and the reaction was heated to 80° C. for 2 h. Purification of the crude product using preparative HPLC gave the title compound (0.035 g, 12% yield).
