Reaction Steps
1-(Boc-D-Valinyl)-4-(1-methylpiperidin-4-yl)piperidine (23.3 g, 61.1 mmol) is dissolved in anhydrous methanol (700 mL), cooled to 0° C. and treated with HCl (gas) until HPLC indicates consumption of starting material is complete. The solvent is removed in vacuo to give 20.8 g (96%) of the title compound as an off-white foam.
