Procedure
2,2,2-Trifluoroethylsulfonyl chloride (253 mg, 1.4 mmol) was added dropwise to a stirred solution of the amine from Step 2 (267 mg, 0.92 mmol) and Et3N (193 □L, 1.4 mmol) in CH2Cl2 (25 mL) at RT under N2. The mixture was stirred at RT for 30 min and then diluted with CH2Cl2 (25 mL), washed with NaHCO3 solution (20 mL) and concentrated under reduced pressure to yield the crude sulfonamide (213 mg, 53%). 1H NMR (CDCl3, 360 MHz) δ 7.60-7.53 (2H, m), 7.49 (1H, t, J=7.6 Hz), 7.37 (1H, d, J=7.6 Hz), 6.38 (1H, s), 5.50 (1H, s), 5.02 (1H, s), 3.88 (3H, s), 3.47 (2H, q, J=8.8 Hz), 3.44 (6H, s), 1.81 (6H, s). MS (ES+) C18H24F3N3O4S requires: 435, found: 404 (M-OCH3+, 100%).
