A flask was charged with EtOH (10 mL) and 10% palladium on carbon (200 mg). A solution of 1-benzyl-3-bromo-5-hydroxy-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-[1,7]naphthyridine-6-carboxylic acid methyl ester (150 mg, 0.39 mmol) in EtOAc (40 mL) and sodium acetate (47 mg, 0.58 mmol) were added, and the resulting mixture was stirred under H2 atmosphere for 16 h. The mixture was filtered, and the filtrate was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was chromatographed (0-60% EtOAc/hexanes+2% AcOH) to give 76 mg of the title compound as a white solid. MS: (+) m/z 325.11 (M+1).
