A mixture of 1-benzyl-5-cyano-8-hydroxy-2-oxo-1,2-dihydro-[1,6]naphthyridine-7-carboxylic acid methyl ester (18 mg, 0.054 mmol) and methylamine (1 mL, 2M in THF) in EtOH (2 mL) was heated in a sealed tube at 80° C. for 16 h. After cooling to r.t., mixture was concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by silica gel chromatography (0-2% MeOH/CH2Cl2) to give 10 mg of the title compound. MS: (−) m/z 333.30 (M−1).
