To a solution of Intermediate 340B (4.0 g, 11.46 mmol) in THF (40 mL) was added BH3.THF (40.1 mL, 80 mmol, 1M in THF) and the reaction mixture was stirred at 70° C. for 16 h. Ethanol (10 mL) was added and the reaction mixture was heated to reflux for 1 h. The reaction mixture was concentrated to afford Intermediate 340C (1.9 g, 40% yield) as a pale brown liquid. MS(ES): m/z=336 [M+H]+. The crude compound was taken to the next step without further purification.
