Crude tert-butyl 1-(cyclopropylmethylcarbamoyl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)-6,8-dihydro-5H-imidazo[1,5-a]pyrazine-7-carboxylate 24a (300 mg, 0.77 mmol) was dissolved in 20 mL of a 2 M solution of hydrogen chloride in 1,4-dioxane. After stirring for 12 hours, the reaction mixture was concentrated under reduced pressure to obtain crude N-(cyclopropylmethyl)-3-(trifluoromethyl)-5,6,7,8-tetrahydro imidazo[1,5-a]pyrazine-1-carboxamide hydrochloride 24b (250 mg) as a light yellow oil. The product was used directly in the next reaction without purification.
