Procedure
A mixture of 2-chlorobenzoic acid (10 g, 63.87 mmol, 1.00 equiv) and thionyl chloride (10 mL) was stirred overnight at 100° C. After the reaction was completed, the resulting mixture was concentrated under vacuum. This resulted in 10 g (100%) of 2-chlorobenzoyl chloride as yellow oil.
