A mixture of 4-benzyloxy-benzoic acid (7.44 g, 0.033 mol), 5,6-diamino-3-propyl-1H-pyrimidine-2,4-dione (5.0 g, 0.027 mol), methanol (60 ml), EDCI (10.0 g, 0.052 mol), were taken and stirred for 20 hours at 20-25° C. The reaction mixture was concentrated and water (50 ml) was added to obtain solid precipitate. The compound was purified by column chromatography to obtain N-(6-Amino-2,4-dioxo-3-propyl-1,2,3,4-tetrahydro-pyrimidin-5-yl)-4-benzyloxy-benzamide as light yellow solid (4.0 g, 38%).
