Procedure
(5,6-bis(Benzyloxy)pyridazin-3-yl)(cyclopropyl)methanol (Intermediate 64, 0.34 g, 0.94 mmol) was dissolved in dichloromethane (10.2 ml) and cooled at 0-5° C. under nitrogen atmosphere. Triethylamine (0.474 g, 4.70 mmol) and methanesulfonylchloride (0.162 g, 1.401 mmol) were added to the reaction and it was allowed to stir at room temperature for 3 hours. Upon completion the reaction was quenched by pouring into saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate solution (25 ml) and the product was extracted into ethyl acetate (2×50 ml). The combined organics were separated, washed with brine, dried (Na2SO4) and concentrated in vacuo. The crude compound was purified by column chromatography (silica, 0-10% ethyl acetate in n-hexane) to afford 3,4-bis(benzyloxy)-6-(cyclopropylidenemethyl)pyridazine (0.18 g, 56% yield).
