To a solution of methyl 5-(4-methoxybenzylthio)-3,4-difluoro-2-((2-fluorophenyl)amino)benzoate (12.64 g, 29.2 mmol) in DMF (30 mL) was added NaN3 (2.28 g, 35.0 mmol) at ambient temperature. The mixture was stirred at 90° C. for 3 h. Then water (150 mL) was added. The solution was extracted with ethyl acetate (100 mL×3). The combined organic extracts were washed with water (100 mL×3) and brine (100 mL), dried over Na2SO4 and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified by flash column chromatography on silica gel (petroleum ether/ethyl acetate, 10:1, v/v) and gave the desired product (white solid, 10.38 g, 78% yield). 1H NMR (400 MHz, CDCl3): δ 8.98 (s, 1H), 7.75 (s, 1H), 7.02-7.28 (m, 6H), 6.83-6.85 (m, 2H), 4.03 (s, 2H), 3.92 (s, 3H), 3.81 (s, 3H).
