5-(tert-Butyl)-2-hydroxy-3′,5′-bis(trifluoromethyl)-[1,1′-biphenyl]-3-carbaldehyde was prepared as an orange oil using the procedure described in Intermediate 5 from 3-bromo-5-(tert-butyl)-2-hydroxybenzaldehyde (Intermediate 4) and 3,5-bis(trifluoromethyl)phenylboronic acid.
