Ammonia (49 mmol) is purged in THF for 1 h at −70° C., benzyl-(5-fluoro-2-nitro-phenyl)-amine E-1.1″ (6.000 g; 24 mmol) is added to the reaction mixture. The reaction mixture is stirred in a steel bomb vessel at 90° C. for 16 h. The reaction is then cooled to 0° C., diluted with water and extracted with ethyl acetate. The combined organic layers are dried with Na2SO4, filtered and concentrated under reduced pressure. The residue is used in the next step without further purification (yield: 84%; 5.000 g; 20.554 mmol).
