Dry hydrogen chloride gas was bubbled through a solution of 1-(4-chloro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)cyclopropanecarbonitrile (1.2 g, 0.75 mmol) in ethanol (10 mL) at 0° C. for 15 min. The mixture was then stirred at room temperature for 1 h. The solvent was removed under reduced pressure to afford ethyl 1-(4-chloro-1H-pyrazol-1-yl)cyclopropanecarbimidate. The crude material was used without further purification.
