To a stirred solution of (S)-2-tert-butoxy-2-(7-chloro-5-(4-chlorophenyl)-2-methylquinolin-6-yl)ethyl pivalate (1J) (22 mg, 0.045 mmol) in THF and methanol (3 mL/1 mL) was added 1 M NaOH solution (1 mL, excess) at 0° C. The mixture was stirred at room temperature for 16 hours and diluted with water. The mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried and concentrated in vacuo. The obtained residue was purified by flash chromatography to provide the desired product 1K (11 mg, 61%). LCMS-ESI+ (m/z): 404.2, 406.2 (M+H)+.
