To a stirred solution of (S)-2-tert-butoxy-2-(5-(4-chlorophenyl)-7-methyl-2-vinylquinolin-6-yl)ethyl pivalate TFA salt (14 mg, 0.024 mmol) in THF and methanol (3 mL/1 mL) was added 1 M NaOH solution (0.5 mL, excess). The mixture was stirred at 0° C. for 6 hours and diluted with water. The resulting mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate. The organic layer was washed with brine, dried and concentrated in vacuo. The obtained residue was used in the next reaction without purification. LCMS-ESI+ (m/z): 396.2, 398.2 (M+H)+.
