The title compound was prepared (0.66 g, 92%, mp 163°-165° C.) in a manner analogous to the preparation of 1-[3-(5-chlorobenzo[b]furan-3-yl)propyl]-4-(3-methoxy-2-pyridinyl)piperazine (Example 25) by the reaction of 5-methyl-3-benzo[b]furan)propanol tosylate with 1-(3-methoxy-2-pyridinyl)piperazine.
