The title compound was prepared (0.69 g, 75%, mp 174°-176° C.) in a manner analogous to the preparation of 1-[3-(5-methoxybenzo[b]furan-3-yl)propyl]-4-(5-methoxy-4-pyrimidinyl)piperazine hydrochloride (Example 39) by the reaction of 5-methoxy-3-benzo[b]furanpropanol tosylate with 1-(3-methoxy-2-pyridinyl)piperazine.
