The title compound was prepared (0.20 g, 24%, mp 140°-144° C.) in a manner analogous to the preparation of 1-[3-(benzo[b]thien-3-yl)propyl]-4-(3-methoxy-2-pyridinyl)-2-methylpiperazine hydrochloride (Example 41) by the reaction of 3-benzo[b]thieneethanol tosylate (Example 47) with 1-(5-methoxy-4-pyrimidinyl)-2-methylpiperazine.
