Procedure
A mixture of 5-(3-nitrobenzoylamino)tetrazole (4.0 g), l0 palladium on carbon (1.0 g) in ethanol (200 ml) was stirred at room temperature in H2 gas at 3 atm. for 4 hours. The reaction mixture was poured into 1N HCl and filtered. 1N sodium hydroxide was added to the filtrate and the pH was adjusted to 5-6 to afford the white powder. 5-(3-Aminobenzoylamino)tetrazole was obtained by filtration, washed with water, and vacuumed to dryness.
