Procedure

1,3-Dihydro-2H-indol-2-one (35.6 g, 0.268mol) suspended in acetic anhydride (30 ml) and mixture refluxed for 20 hours. Filtered and washed with diethyl ether (50 ml) dried in vacuo at 80° C. to give a solid.
