Procedure

A mixture of 3-[2-(4,4-ethylenedioxycyclohexyl)-3-oxo-2,3-dihydropyridazin-6-yl]-2-phenylpyrazolo[1,5-a]-pyridine (0.68 g), 1N hydrochloric acid (5 ml), and dioxane (10 ml) was stirred at room temperature for 1 hour and heated at 50° C. for 2 hours. The reaction mixture was poured into 50 ml of water and the mixture was extracted with ethyl acetate (20 ml×2). The combined extracts were sequencially washed with saturated aqueous sodium bicarbonate (30 ml) and brine (30 ml), dried over anhydrous sodium sulfate. Evaporation of the solvent gave yellow crystals of 3-[2-(4-oxocyclohexyl)-3-oxo-2,3-dihydropyridazin-6-yl]-2-phenylpyrazolo[1,5-a]pyridine (610 mg).
