Palladium-carbon (10%, 0.6 g) was added to a solution of 2-mesityl-3-nitropyridine (5.99 g, 23 mmol) in ethanol (120 mL), followed by stirring for one day in hydrogen atmospher. The mixture was filtered through Celite and evaporated, to give the title compound (5.2 g) as white crystals.
