Procedure
A mixture of 1-(6-amino-3,3-dimethyl-2,3-dihydro-indol-1-yl)-ethanone (1.02 g, 5 mmol) and isatoic anhydride (0.85 g, 5.2 mmol) in DMSO (5 mL) was heated to 150° C. for 6 h. After cooling to RT, the mixture was suspended in a NaHCO3 solution (40 mL) and extracted with CH2Cl2 (20 mL×3). The organic solution was combined and concentrated in vacuo. The residue was purified via flash chromatography on silica gel (EtOAc:hexanes 9:2) to give the desired compound as an off-white solid.
