The title compound was prepared by a method analogous to that used for the preparation of ethyl{2-methyl-4-[({5-[4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-3-furyl}methyl)thio]phenoxy}acetate (example 1) using ethyl(4-hydroxy-2-methylphenoxy)acetate (intermediate 7) and {5-[2-fluoro-4-(trifluoromethyl)phenyl]-3-methylthien-2-yl}methanol (intermediate 124).
