Reaction Steps
A solution of 1.00 eq. of 3,5-dibromo-2-aminopyrazine 1 in ethanol is treated with 2.00 eq. of α-bromo-aldehyde 2 at RT and heated for 48 hr. The solvent is removed under reduced pressure and the residue is triturated with diethyl ether and filtered to give the HBr salt 3.
