Reaction Steps
A warmed mixture of dl-1-cyclohexyl-4-[1-phenyl-2-(3-tolyl)ethyl]piperazine (3.0 g), dibenzoyl-d-tartaric acid monohydrate (3.2 g) and ethanol (100 ml) is allowed to cool. The precipitated crystals are separated by filtration and fractionally recrystallized from 95% ethanol to give l-1-cyclohexyl-4-[1-phenyl-2-(3-tolyl)ethyl[piperazine dibenzoyl-d-tartarate sesquihydrate (1.2 g), melting point: 150°- 151° C. (decomp.), [α D28 = -83.0° (c=1.0, methanol).
