Procedure

1.74 g of 1-ethyl-3-(3-dimethylaminopropyl)-carbodiimide were added to 1.55 g of the product of Step A suspended in 25 ml of methylene chloride and the mixture was stirred for 30 minutes. 50 ml of methylene chloride were added, followed by washing with water, and extraction with methylene chloride. The organic phase was dried and concentrated to dryness under reduced pressure to obtain 1.25 g of expected product which after crystallization from isopropanol melted at 195° C.
