76.5 g (0.213 mol) of 64.5% pure N-allyl-N-(1,1-dimethoxyprop-2-yl)-urethane are heated in 180 ml of formic acid at 100° C. for one hour. The mixture is poured into ice-water and extracted with CH2Cl2, the extracts are washed neutral with NaHCO3 solution, dried over MgSO4 and concentrated and the residue is distilled.
