Procedure
1 g of methyl (4-{4-[4-(aminoiminomethyl)phenyl]-1,3-thiazol-2-ylamino}piperid-1-yl)acetate hydrochloride (EXAMPLE 1) is added to 20 ml of 6N hydrochloric acid and the reaction mixture is heated under reflux for 5 hours. The mixture is evaporated to dryness and the residue is crystallized from acetone to give white crystals which melt at 216° C.; yield: 96%.
