Procedure

700 mg of ethyl 3-[N-{4-[4-(aminoiminomethyl)phenyl]-1,3-thiazol-2-yl}-N-(1-ethoxycarbonylmethyl-piperid-4-yl)amino]propionate hydrochloride (EXAMPLE 2) are added to 25 ml of 6N hydrochloric acid and the reaction mixture is heated under reflux for 5 hours. The mixture is evaporated to dryness and the residue is crystallized from acetone to give white crystals which melt at 215° C.; yield: 80%.
