926.1 mg (3.69 mmol) of 3-(1,1,2,2-tetrafluoro-ethoxy)-phenyl-guanidine nitrate are added to a solution of 801.1 mg (3.69 mmol) of 3-dimethylamino-1-(3-ethoxy-phenyl)-2-propen-1-one in 10 ml of 2-propanol. After the addition of 162.2 mg (4.05 mmol) of sodium hydroxide, the reaction mixture is boiled under reflux for 20 h. After cooling to RT, the reaction product is isolated by filtration and washed with 1-propanol, ethyl acetate and water. After chromatography (hexane:ethyl acetate=7:3), N-[3-(1,1,2,2-tetrafluoro-ethoxy)-phenyl]-4-(3-ethoxy-phenyl)-2-pyrimidineamine is obtained; Rf =0.72 (methylene chloride:methanol=98:2), m.p. 88°-96°.
